its not the greatest movie ever, but it is exceptional. anyone who denies that is watching a blockbuster, and not a crime/drama epic, which is what it is. it is a meditation on heroism and its real-world effects on society. it considers consequences to actions and delivers a well plotted story full of surprises. the acting is superlative, and altho the plaudits go to heath ledger, it is michael caine and gary oldman who anchor the movie. the joker is one of the most well devised and acted villains of all time. what makes it great is that it is deep, explores themes to the end and in a real world context. it is morally ambiguous and full of surprises. put it this way: if you hear criticism of the movie, it is that it was over hyped, too long, too complicated to follow, and batman speaks with a stupid voice. the last is true. the rest has nothing to do with the movie and everything to do with an audience who pays $700m to see stupid tripe like transformers
well first of all it was #1 for a while, but now its #3.
second of all, the "imdb top 250" doesnt imply a movie is the greatest of all times, its just a popularity list, or "the most loved films by the audience" if you like…
and yes, i do think its a really great movie, one of my favorites, its truly amazing, everything about it, i recommend you watching it…
thats all
It has a very good plot and story line, but people got real excite dabou tit because of Heath as the joker. It wasent the best movie to me, but it was still very good because its very intense and intresting. But it was mostly hype but it was very good, but just not the best in my opinion
It’s not the greatest movie ever. That honor has already been bestowed upon ‘Anchorman’.
Sorry.
It was a good movie. I think it’s #1 because so many people wanted to see Heath Ledger’s last movie.
That’s why I went.
Kinda like a tribute.
jst b’coz of batman & joker
I wouldn’t look to the IMDB to find out what the greatest movie ever is. "The Dark Knight" is very popular at the moment, especially with children, who are most likely to use IMDB and post their opinions.
It got such a high rating from voters because it *is* a really good movie, and because it was still showing in theaters, and at the height of its popularity. But, "best ever"? No way. There are so many other movies made over the years that are much better than "The Dark Knight".
IMO, no movie should be allowed to be part of a "best movie ever" poll until at least 5 years after its release, so that it doesn’t get the "current popularity" bump in the poll.
.
The joker
It’s not. Too many special effects, not enough acting.
Hollywood needs to get back to GREAT acting, instead of relying on special effects to bring in the millions from the stupid masses.
It’s not the greatest. People just love it so much because of Heath’s death. You know, before he died everyone was raggin on him for playing the Joker and saying how ‘awful’ it was going to be. Now look, everyone ‘loves him!’ I saw it and everyone argues with me about whether it was the best movie ever or not. There are plenty of better movies out there, Batman has turned more trendy than anything. Granted, I love Batman but I also have the hard cover comics by Frank Miller and a lot of the old movies. It’s pretty stupid that people went JUST to see the Joker, they didn’t even go into how the Joker came to be, they never called him Jack Napier or anything like that, which was all pretty important. In the comics and old movies, he didn’t PAINT himself white. He fell into a vat of chemicals, which turned his hair green, made his face white, and put the smile on his face. It made me so mad that they didn’t put that in there! x[
Why would you trust a democratic vote when it comes to a critical question?
It was just so fun to watch
great action
great acting
cool storyline
It isn’t that great a movie and I’m unable to explain its extreme popularity. While it is a good movie, nothing about it is great except for Ledger’s truly insane performance. I’m not even sure it’s better than "Batman Begins". It’s hurried, slapdash and repetitious in its plot. It has about five acts to it and feels like it’s well over three hours long even though it’s only 2.5 hours. It introduces two new elements in the final act (including two boats of very bad actors; you’ll understand when you watch the movie) and by that point you’re wondering how much more plot the movie can pile on. I was really disappointed in it.
If a moviegoer equates a good movie with just having a lot of "plot" and "stuff" in it, then they’re liable to really like this movie. But if you’re more discriminating and appreciate artfulness and economy in storytelling, then you’re likely to dislike it.
ok well i have a question for yall that think The Dark Knight was a bad movie.
if it sucked so badly then why is it the #1 movie of the summer?
huh?
if u didnt like it then thats ur problem. but it wasnt voted the #1 movie for the summer of 2008 for nothing.
i rest my case.
let me tell you why it’s the best movie EVER. Btw, i fully agree with that statement. First lets leave it to the superficial, good action scenes, good explosive stuff.
Next, storyline- captivating for the entire time.
Third- the hidden messages in the movie. It is pure GENIUS. Only those who dont understand say its mediocore or has flaws. It doesnt. Chris Nolan and the entire batman team are a bunch of geniuses.
But dont just take my word for it, its time to go experience the best movie ever for yourself.
ITS A GOOD MOVIE FOR ALOT OF REASONSSS!!!!
