One Halloween when we were kids, my mother surprised my brother and I that Halloween afternoon by announcing that we were going to dress up as homeless people (well, hobos, she called them). Needless to say, I took exception and was not happy. I had my heart set on wearing the Superman costume I wore the previous year and loved it.

But my mother would have none of it and insisted if I wanted to go trick-or-treating, it’s the hobo outfit for me.

Needless to say, I relented and suffered through the Goodwill rags and grease paint (which caused my face to break out for about a week; THANKS MOM!). The worst Halloween I ever had.

Anyway, enough of my ranting. How about the rest of you?
A couple of you mentioned that you never had Halloween costumes. Sorry about that. Sometimes I forget that there are apathetic parents out there. But I felt I should have had more of a say in what I dressed as for Halloween. And I certainly could have done without that awful grease paint.
