explain to your friend that zombies are completely made up and are in no way possible in the real world. There is no science at all to suggest that it is even remotely possible. Hollywood has done a great job convincing people that they are a real threat, as with many many other totally made up things in movies.
Katana or cricket bat, depending on how cool you are.

Rain coat with matching rubber hat
Lawnmower, or portable blender if size is an issue
- Isolation armor with its own oxygen supply and/or air filters. The armor would have to be able to stop any zombie from touching the wearer, yet provide full mobility. Thankfully, zombies typically are not very strong; I recommend the ol´ kevlar-with-thin titanium plating.
- A high-calibre weapon which fires charges that can reliably eliminate a zombie with a single shot, and plenty of ammunition.
- A small airplane, like a Cessna, or perhaps a helicopter. Maybe a Huey with a minigun aboard, that would be good.
- Plenty of food that can be stored for a long time and does not take up a lot of room.
- A radio transmitter and receiver.
Dust masks. Hand sanitizer. Salt (common table salt is the antidote for the toxin that turns people into traditional zombies). Bottled water and meals-ready-to-eat (MREs).

Make sure you add the book The Zombie Survival Guide by Max Brooks. Don’t listen to the nay sayers. They want to ruin the fun for the zombie fans.
Buy him the zombie survival guide book by max brooks and world war z by max brooks the zombie survival guide actually tells you how to survive
The majority has suggested the Zombie Survival Guide by Max Brooks and I know him personally, it would be a brilliant present, just buy it online. If not then go to your nearest sports store and buy him a cheap wooden baseball bat and hammer some nails into it. A gas mask would also do great although I have no idea where you would find one sicne Halloween is over. Maybe you should write your own guide based on these comments and the review of Max Brooks book on wiki. Hope I helped. Zombies= l..l (devil horns..)
Ready made food and bottled water
nails and a few tools (Not electrical) for building barricades
weapons-
if he is trigger happy- get something like a fake gun or real but use these kinds- sawn-off shot gun, 50 caliber pistol, desert Eagle, arrows with bow
If he likes blades get him a katana or some type of long ranged weaponry, a smooth edged dagger, a machete, hatchet
If he liked blunt force trauma then get a cricket bat, crowbar, pipe, golf club, etc.
Hope this helps and happy holidays
