What is the Dark Knight doing on the IMDB top 250?

Well, maybe it should be among the 250 best films, BUT it clearly does not deserve the rank of #6. Should newer films not be allowed onto the list before a couple of years have passed, and the ratings have dropped? The Dark Knight is in no way better than The Empire Strikes Back, Silence of the Lambs or Psycho. It seems that people hyped on a nice movie going experience overrated it on imdb.

yea true. but it has a HIGH rating ONLY because Heath Ledgar was in it but he passed away.
Well, ordinary moviegoers are the ones who rate the movies in IMDB. I really have no idea what made them love The Dark Knight, but they seem to give it high ratings. Sure, the effects were good. But I have to agree it is no way better than The Empire Strikes Back, Silence of the Lambs or Psycho (which are TRUE classics).
Personally, the Dark Knight wasn’t what I’d call "brilliant." I’m not completely up-to-date with the Batman stories thought. The movie was very "dark" in a sense, Christian Bale (Batman) had a coarse, almost whispering voice, that at times, could be hard to understand, there was several revealing and continuity mistakes, ect, ect. I agree with you completely; there were many more signifigantly better movies that this one; more than likely viewers are biased against the well-liked Batman stories and Heath Ledger’s suicide.
