I’m using a recipe that calls for pumpkin pie spice. I know its a mix of different spices…
I have cinnamin, nutmeg, allspice, and ground clove. Anyone know what spices are in pumpkin pie spice?

This is the recipe to make pumpkin pie spice.
* 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
* 1/4 teaspoons ground ginger
* 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
* 1/8 teaspoon ground allspice
All those will work, together. Don’t forget to add sugar!
Try the allspice with a little extra cinnamon. We have stopped using anything other than cinnamon in our pies. Easier on the digestion, and the pies are really yummy. But if you want the receipe to make your own, here it is.
Here’s How:
Measure 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon into a small bowl or cup.
Add 1/4 teaspoon of ground ginger.
Add 1/8 teaspoon of ground allspice or ground cloves.
Add 1/8 teaspoon of ground nutmeg.
that sounds like it will work, maybe some ginger but it’s not necessary…..
yeah that is what’s in it.. don’t put in the nutmeg..
I hate nutmeg..
if you have ginger put a 1/2 tsp of that .. 1 teaspoon of cinnamon and a 1/2 tsp of ground cloves that will work.
hi, OK - this is not a real answer, but i have found numerous helpful recipes by entering "make your own spices" in a search engine - you’d be AMAZED at what you will find! and, the end results are always worth it - you save money, time, and a trip to the store!
PUMPKIN PIE
2 eggs, slightly beaten
16 ounces pumpkin
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
12 ounces evaporated milk
Combine filling ingredients in order given; pour into pie crust. Bake 15 minutes at 425 F. Reduce temperature to 350 F. Bake an additional 40-50 minutes or until knife inserted near center comes out clean. Cool.
Note: When using metal or foil pie pan, preheat cookie sheet in oven at 425 F. When using glass or ceramic pie pan, do not use cookie sheet.
If shallow 9" (2 cup volume) FROZEN pie crusts are substituted, recipe makes two pies. Preheat cookie sheet while preheating oven to 425 F. Bake at 425 F for 15 minutes, reduce temperature to 350 F. Bake an additional 20-30 minutes or until pie tests done as noted above.
Serving Size: 12.
hope this helps. enjoy.
Try this, I use it for pumpkin pies and it is better than pumpkin pie spice:
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp ginger (I didn’t see it on your question so if you don’t have it just use extra cinnamon)
dash each of cloves and nutmeg
1/2 tsp all spice
Use this in place of every 2 tsp of pumpkin pie spice
Pumpkin pie spice is hand mixed from sweet China cinnamon, Jamacian allspice, powdered cassia buds, ground nutmeg, mace and Ceylon cloves, as well as ginger powder.
Personally, I would substitute with the regular cinnamon and allspice
