When we think of the pirate stereotype, we picture a peg leg, a hook for a hand, a parrot, an eyepatch, cutlass, and obnoxious earrings… Why?

I understand medicine has not always been as it is now, hence peglegs and whatnot, but then why aren’t revolutionary war soldiers pictured with peglegs and eyepatches? Why only the pirate?

~characters were a bear, lion, pink cat, parrot (and others I can’t remember)
~I think Reading Rainbow was popular around the same time

Does anyone know where to find an adult pirate treasure chest halloween costume? We are doing themed group costumes for a party. We have the Pirates & Parrot we just need to find the jeweled/gold treasure chest. Thanks

My husband and I bought some pirate costumes that were on sale. They were at an awesome price, but didn’t really come with any acessories. What are some things that I can add (that i could buy at a costume store) to add to our costumes.. (eye patch, swords, parrot.. ect…)

Also, make-up and hair ideas… I wanna personalize my costume

I feel that they never get the batman costume correct. the nose guard looks like a parrot’s beak, the voice used by Christian Bale is semi-ridiculous. If the batman had a more sleek, full-body suit, that enclosed his mouth, he could be more agile, and his voice could be altered electronically. the weapons the bat uses could melt in and out of his costume as well. What do you think? P.S.: the Joker was awesome!
he was once covered from head to toe in all black. it was during the batman begins movie. the scarecrow had inhaled some of his own fear toxin. when he saw the batman, he looked like a man-bat in all black with a tar-like substance leaking from his mouth. also i wouldn’t mind if the costume stayed traditional, just get it right. there’s no reason why the Owl’s costume in the WATCHMEN MOVIE should look better than batman’s.
