I have always wanted to live where I could decorate my yard (a little) and dress up to sit on the porch and hand out candy. Well a couple months ago my fiance’ & I moved into a neighborhood that would allow me to do this with lots of young kids that live there also. My question is what are some inexpensive ways to decorate that would be kind of spooky? Also my fiance’ is going to dress up along with me…we would like to be kind of scary, any suggestions on something we could do inexpensive..we have some $ to spend but we should have started saving sooner but we didn’t about it. Thanks for your help ![]()
We just moved into the neighborhood, and my parents want me to give out candy (which I’ve never done before, because I’ve either gone trick-or-treating during Halloween or just lived in a neighborhood that never had any trick-or-treaters anyway) so we don’t seem "unfriendly" and the "neighbors won’t talk about us," but I have to study for three tests I have on Monday and when I get distracted by something, I rarely ever get back on track. Is it okay if I just leave the bowl out on my doorstep? (When I went trick-or-treating, some people did that.) Should I put a sign on the door? What should it say?
Yeah, I’m bad at this stuff. Help? =)
My husband, my 2 yr old and I (and maybe our beagle) will be trick or treating around the neighborhood for Halloween. What are some ideas for similar themed Halloween costumes? I’ll be sewing/making the costumes, so I’m not limited to what can just be bought in stores. Thanks.

I love Halloween! It is really fun. I don’t trick or treat but I pass out candy. I think that is really fun. I love to watch Halloween movies and eat a ton of candy until I am sick. Decorating is fun. It is just great. But to get to my question, what should my costume be. I DO NOT want to go to walmart and buy a ready to wear costume. I want to be creative. I want to look good too. You never know who will walk up to my doorstep. Also, people don’t trick or treat in my neighborhood. I just moved to this house on the lake where there are just a bunch of old people. So…I am probably going to my aunt’s house in town. They have kids so should I just have a party with them and watch movies and stuff after they trick or treat. I mean what do I do with them. I love Halloween and I want to do all of my favorite things like watching movies baking decorating. But it is not my house
To summarize my questions
What should I dress up as that is creative?
What activities should I do? Your ideas?
Oh and can you give me names of good Halloween movies that are not gorey?
What are some good easy recipes to make for Halloween?
Also, I am in high school. I am not a little kid. Lol!
I heard in a neighborhood in another town that convicted sex offenders must lock their doors, keep there porch lights turned off and put up the paroll officer-issued NO CANDY sign in a visible spot. Then they go down to a secure building with police officers ect and have a halloween party during trick or treat hours. I think this is a great idea, however it isn’t in effect in my area. So does this mean that sex offenders just hand out candy and prowl the streets during trick or treat?
I can’t decide what I should be. I like to stalk around the neighborhood scaring any living soul that passes by me =D lmao it’s funny as hell. Anyways I need something scary, but that’s also easy to move around in. If you can, try to post a link to someplace where I can buy it or see a pic of it. ty
There’s a house in my neighborhood that has their front yard decorated already
I believe the Somalian pirate costume will be much less expensive but I am afraid that if I dress like that in my neighborhood the racists will call the cops and have me arrested. On the other hand, if I dress like the Dutchman will I have to worry about getting beat up by homophobes? Does anyone have any safe ideas?
I don’t feel like sharing my M&Ms with the neighborhood kiddies !
Legally do I have to take it down or s it a free country I can do what I want?
To the person that asked why I still want it up….number one I paid good money for the thing I would like to leave it up for 3 weeks after Halloween some other people in the neighborhood still have their pumpkins and stuff up…number two I am into the gothic/punk syles and mose of my condo is decorated in guitars and skulls, so it matches. I dont want to stir up trouble, I had no idea they would be "offended" its just what I’m into, I feel it is something hanging out their that fits my style….my love of rock music, punk clothing, dark and mysterious things, ect…….
To the person who said take it down to just get along with the neighbor, screw the neighbor they are infringing on my personal expression….plus I didnt like them anyway…LOL just kidding!
To the person below, you need to calm down notice the words "just kidding" in my post. The reason I asked was for legal advice not personal advice. But you entitled to your opinion and thanks for the post!
My friends and I are planning to go around my neighborhood trick or treating but we want an original idea. We want something were couples can go together. Please no princesses or superheroes, because other people in our grade are already using those ideas. please nothing too slutty or immature(:
My neighbor has 3 chihuahuas, and last year he placed them all on his rolling barbecue and walked them around the neighborhood, he called the Grilled-Chis, get it? Grilled Cheese, chis for chihuahuas, lol
