I’ve often wondered what toddlers and really young children think when they watch "Barney" or "Sesame Street." Does it ever occur to them what exactly Barney is? I mean do they think he is real or they know he is just some guy in a dinosaur costume? Do they ever think why they never see Barney or Big Bird in real life, only on TV?
Actually, a parent once told me that their child loved watching Barney on TV, had all the Barney dolls and everything and once when they had a chance to meet ‘Barney’ at the mall they were terrified even though they knew beforehand that they were going to meet him.
You can probably tell I don’t have children. But I would like some others opinions on this. I watched these shows when I was kid but I honestly don’t remember exactly what I thought.

I am writing a paper and my teacher asked to find a Chinese song that was equivalent to the Special song in Barney. If anyone has information about songs children learn in China and what sort of themes they have it would be great.

So far we’ve thought of:
Popeye, Olive Oil, and Sweatpea.
Gomez, Morticia, and Pubert Addams. (Addams Family)
Barney, Betty, and BamBam Rubble.
Era costumes (50′s, 60′s)
We’re open to absolutely anything

I went to the San Diego Comic Con this summer and all these little kids were saying Naroottoo Naroottoo NAROOTTOO! They were all dressed up and saying spells and stuff and some guy gave out Naroottoo masks. They said Naroottoo was big.
In one line to meet Jim Lee there was two guys looking for Naroottoo costumes. Each time the other saw one first he would shout, "NAROOTTOO!" and punch the other guy in the shoulder.
I think this Naroottoo is some sort of low-grade anime type Japanese cartoon for little kids around 5 or 6. Is that Naroottoo? Or is it a ninja guy that eats crackers with some metal thing on his head? I think they had metal things that they eat stuff with or it is part of the little kids’ costume. Anyways I know the really little toddlers liked this Naroottoo a lot.
Can anyone help?
Okay so it is Naruto? Well they said Nah-root-two or Naroottoo. And I only saw the littlest of kids as these Narutoes or Naroottoos or whatever. It seemed most of the teenagers were making fun of the little Narutoes or Naroottoos. I guess most of them thought it was a loser thing to watch or do like Pokemon or Barney.
That’s how they were talking about it. I waited in a long line and other people compained about the Narutoes / Naroottoos as well. Most normal Con goers were upset at all of them and once this guy dressed as Eltroman came by. He had a shocking stun gun thing come out of his finger. It shot around 6 inches. A bunch of people asked him to shock the Narutoes / Naroottoos. He laughed and a bunch of other people laughed and said that would be a good idea. He didn’t shock them though…he ended up shocking this guy in a really cool Galactus costume though.
It is Naurto according to Lone Wolf then I heard Naruto and Narooto as well as Narutoo or Naroottoo. I am so confused? What does this mean? Is it Japanese for torture?
Okay – I just heard Naroottoo eats a hogie. Or that he does a "hogey dogey". Is this the Hokey Pokey? Or does he use the metal thing to eat the hogies? Somebody told me just a minute ago in a chat room that Naroottoo / Naruto / Naurto always says, "I want a hogie!". Is he fixated on eating hogie sandwiches?

My job requires me to wear a big character costume (similar to ones that Barney wears). Does anyone know of any laws against them? Such as there having to be a certain time limit or prohibiting people to wear them in certain weather?

Compared to the Japanese kid eating mass amounts of Nathan’s hotdogs, how many kids do you think barney the dino can eat in one sitting?

Would you say that Barney and Sesame Street are considered cartoons or kid’s shows? My husband says they’re called kid’s shows and I say they’re called cartoons. He says I’m wrong.

My husband and I were invited to a costume Halloween party. We have a 5 month old son and wanted to do something together. Something like Barney, Betty, and BamBam. We want to be creative, yet we don’t want to break the bank.

My husband says that Sesame Street and Barney and all these shows are socialist because they portray characters sharing things with each other and coming to each other’s assistance rather than working for what they get, and kids who watch these shows will become corrupted and lazy liberals who feel entitled to benefit from the efforts of others rather than working hard for a living.

My daughter is 9 months and is at such a fun age, I know she would enjoy seeing Elmo, Barney or a Disney Concert! Does anyone know when they are coming back to Portland? I know I just missed Elmo, he was here in May, I hadn’t heard so now I want to be prepared! =) Thanks for your help!!

some preschools here have banned scary costumes on halloween. kids can only wear the cute stuff (read: fairies, thomas the tank engine, barney, friendly pirates, etc).
oh and i’m not talking about my children’s schools.
what’s your take on this?
