i need it for an anime convention

I need an idea for a costume that is different from the typical. I will be wearing this to an anime convention, and I want to stay far far far away from the usual. (You know, cat girls, maids, Naruto… etc.) So, I’d rather do something super rare or made up. (I prefer made up) Whatever it is, I am going for 5 qualities: unique, beautiful, elegant, super bold, and the ability to go all out with my eyeshadow (fake lashes, bold colors, etc.). This is my last anime convention, so I really want to "go out with a bang".

To give you an idea of the person who will be wearing it, my avatar and I are really close in skin color. My favorite colors are white, black, turquoise, silver, and gold. I have lots of time to do this costume, so I am not afraid of going all out.

There is a convention specification, though… I cannot have any real-looking or real weapons.

My first idea was to do a modified version of my favorite animal, the black swan with a long black dress with a fishtail, a mardigras mask with feathers, and silver gloves, but that isn’t bold enough for me… then I started looking at these:

(the feather parts) to make it more bold, but I can’t get a sketch of my idea to work… so I’m back to square one (by the way, I DO NOT want to do that specific idea…)

(Note: I do want to have my tummy and at least half of my legs covered…)

I’ve looked at anime angels, but that is one of the common ideas at anime conventions… and I’ve browsed costume sites (anime costumes and regular costumes), but haven’t been inspired…

I wanted to make a costume for an anime convention that I want to go to (My first one!! I’ve never been to an anime convention before♥)
But I can’t think of a character to be. I don’t wanna be someone reaaallly skinny, like Sakura or something. I don’t think it would look right. (There’s a reason for that below) So far, the people I thought of were Temari, Kairi, and Dawn / Hikari (Pokemon DP) I’d most likely be Temari, but I wanted to take on the challenge of making Kairi’s costume, because I think it’s really pretty. I think Dawn’s costume is cute too, but everybodys like NOO NOO DON’T BE DAWN.

So, if this helps, here’s a description of me :
*I’m African-American , so from there, the only person I can think of is Yoroichi. >_< (Not extremely dark though, more like a umm.. coffee colored, after you add like half the container of creamer lol. or maybe toast colored. ORRR That shade that is ONE shade lighter than my avatar. ♥ Perfect!)

*I’m about 5’3

*Chest Size – 38in.

*Waist – 25in. (11 inches wide at the front at smallest area, 13 at largest)

*Hips – 36in. (14-15inches wide at the front)

*Feet – Usually an 8.5

*Arms- About 9inches around the elbow

*Thighs – Unfortunately, about 20inches around. (only 9in at the front)

*Lower Leg – About 15inches around (only about 4.5 maybe 5inches at the front)

*Eyes – A couple people told me I have anime-ish eyes, but I’m still trying to find it. lol.

*Hair – I have shoulder length hair, but I cut it shorter, and I’m going to grow it out again.
Face – No freckles, But unfortunately, small scars that look like them, =(. Glasses. Medium Sized nose? I supposed. Rounded.
I weigh about 145or so, But as you can see, weight is a little um, ‘distributed’ lol. I know its kinda weird posting all this stuff up, but I can’t ask my friends who I should be anymore. If one more person tells me Tsunade (for obvious reasons) I’m gonna stab them with a spork lawl.
**I know the numbers are big, but I’m really not that big lol. The biggest I can wear in shirts is a Medium and In bottoms usually a 10. (Yeah, I admit a 10 is pretty big. *sigh*) **

So, Just a few questions before I finish up ♥ :

*What Character would suit me well?
(If you give a character, please tell the show they’re from =) )

*Also, if I do in fact decicde to be Temari, what types of materials should I use? (Which ones give the best results rather)

*HOW DO I MAKE A GIANT FAN! LOL
~What Materials should I use
~What type of paper should I use
~What should I use to make the frame of the fan (Sorry, I forgot what its called)
~ And last, what type of paint should I use to paint the moons (circles) onto the fan? And if theres a specific shade of purple that would work well, can you give me the name/ store to buy it from? Thanks!! ♥

ALRIGHT! THIS IS THE LAST THING! My friend wanted to be Ulquiorra, but he couldn’t sew to save his life. He’d probably end up sewing his arms together or something. So, enough said. Any tips on that? I told him I’d make it for him if it wasnt too hard.

i need a costume ASAP! i went to ebay and the shipping on all of the costumes is ridiculous. i need a tohru honda cosplay costume really fast because i forgot when the anime convention was because of work and i havent had time to do it right and well… I NEED HELP! please someone help me!thnx!

Okay really weird question but I was invited to go to an anime convention next weekend and apparently I have to wear a costume. I don’t have a clue what to wear or where to buy one at. Any ideas where I can get one by next friday? And what to go as the only anime I’ve ever watched was sailor moon when I was little.

i’m making a jester/ harlequin costume for an anime convention and am finding it harder to buy simple black and white harlequin diamond style fabric. most of the patterns i’ve found are perfect, but i nthe wrong colors ar the right colors but the wrong pattern…help!

I’m going to an anime convention relatively soon and I want good suggestions for relatively simple costumes to make.
I’m willing to go as characters from most mainstream anime, (Death Note, Naruto, etc.,) and anything good that I can make a good costume for.
I have a month and a half for this, and I will be working on it for a while every day until it’s finished. I don’t want it to be very complicated, but I don’t want it to be too simple.
