im talking about the movie. ive never been a star trek fan and all i really know about it is a bunch of people travelling through space, and the whole "beam me up" thing. but movie that just came out on dvd looks really cool so I was wondering if I would get anything thats going on even though ive never watched star trek before?

well no the movie will tell u everything dont bother
It’s science fiction, so if you don’t like that you won’t like the new Star Trek. However, if you do like Sci-fi (and I don’t know how you don’t like Star Trek if you don’t like Sci-fi) then you will like it. There are a lot of inside jokes for Trekkies or even casual ST fans but it won’t matter.
No you don’t….you’ll probably enjoy it better.
The new Star Trek shows the beginning of how the crew came together. It’s fun if you’ve seen the series and know what’s going on, but you should have no problems getting into things if you haven’t seen it before.
You will enjoy it, but there will be a lot that you won’t appreciate if you never watched the TV series or any of the other movies. I would suggest watching the other movies, at least….
No! I went to the movie in the theater without knowing a single thing or which person was which in the movie from the real star trek. It was a good movie to me! They explain well enough.
