How much would you pay to have Santa visit your home, school, party, ect. for your kids?

Someone bought my husband a Santa suit to play Santa. He makes a good one. But we have no idea how much to charge. Do you think we should charge by the hour, 1/2 hour, ask for a donation or what? We are doing this so we can have a Christmas also; otherwise we won’t. Any suggestions?

I am going with smunfifa on this one. I wouldn’t want to be paid for that. It called the season of giving, If someone offers take it I guess but I wouldn’t ask. Do retail work if you need a Christmas. Have him be clown at parties, but Santa taking money I dunno. Take the Santa suit off first before any transactions are made if you do ask for a payment or something.

No offense but I don’t think it’s proper etiquette to expect x amount of money for playing Santa. I mean after all Santa is usually something that is done out of the kindness of one’s heart. If he were working at a shopping mall to get donations it would be volunteer but on the other hand if he were Santa at a shopping mall full time hours then it would be a full time paid seasonal job. Now I am not trying to be rude but he is already being paid a priceless gift of giving a child hope and special memories. Isn’t this positive impact enough of payment?
A few years ago my mother paid $50 and he stayed thirty minutes and he was a yucky Santa. He was very slim, his beard was below his chin and he didn’t talk to the kids.
You would most likely get further if you just asked for donations.
Well, I think that you should definitely charge to for schools or parties. A rasonable rate is 50 dollars for an hour, especially since he’ll have to wear that suit, and it does get warm and uncomfortable. I think at that rate you will also make enough to purchase some nice gifts for each other, and your kids/family if you have them. I think, however, to give back to the community, after he does his rounds where is is making money, he should visit the sick kids ward at the local hospital to spread some happiness to kids in need. It will make you and him feel good, but also will bring Christmas cheer to the kids.
