How many presents have you bought your children for Christmas…my husband thinks I go over the top?
this year? How old are they? My husband seems to think I go over the top every year…but I dont…I have got mine about 14 presents each and they’re not all expensve at all…some of them cosst under 10 pounds! My children are 5 and 21 mnths old…the oldest has a fairy castle dools house and some sets to go in it…she has a scooter and an art desk…a set of art stuff…and various princessy bits and bobs including a costume. The toddler has a little rocking horse, a play cooker and food, a little baby kind of dolls house and some cuddly things that are in the characters she loves from tv…oh and a tea set. It’s not over the top at all! SOme of their friends have toys pouring out of their rooms and at 5 years old are getting Nintendo Lite’s and Ipods! Who’se correct here?

i got my 6 year old a nintendo ds lite *ashamed face* HAHAHA
he also got xbox games, and loads of tech deck stuff that hes into, boards and ramps skateparks, a gaming chair,
my 2 year old got a baby annebel, a upsy daisy drawing set that sings, a toad stool play house, and loads of stocking fillers,
all in all ive spent about £150 on each of them
Your gifts are pretty reasonable, considering what your friends are buying, but I’m only giving my 4-year-old son a Batman playhouse, a watch (he’s been admiring Daddy’s), and four books. There are, of course, grandparents on both sides who will be giving him way too many gifts, so he’ll end up with more toys than he’ll ever need in spite of my thriftiness. However, I think that people don’t need a lot to be happy, and I want to teach my son that.
I dont have children yet so I don’t know if you want my answer, but I think it’s a matter of how much it all costs and if you can afford the presents quite easily then it’s fine.
For a compromise, why not stop at 10 presents each? How many presents does your husband suggest? I think less than 5 average price or good presents is a bit meager.
Christmas is an amazing time of year for children, especially when they think it’s father christmas bringing them
Happy christmas!
Well I think you did pretty good. This tear i bought my four kids presents. They are,2,4,8,12.I got a total of about 31 presents. So don’t worry because my wife got a little mad,she got about 15 gifts. But hey, kids wouldnt like it if you only got them 3 presents.
Merry Christmas
well … i’m dad and i love 2 spoil my little girl (7) but as far as xmas gifts my wife and i don’t think she should get more than 4 or 5 that’s because we had made the bad choice of buying her a lot of stuff in past years on xmas time and it’s always the same deal she would end up loosing interest in all of them and go back to the old ones so now we get her just a couple and she’s happy … ooh and we got her an electric guitar, amplifier , stand for the guitar, a my little pony and a new snare drum for her drum set (she’s into music)
we have four kids and they each have about two big garbage bags full.
our kids are 7… and he’s really into Bionicles and Bakugon. He’s also getting a watch, microscope, medieval castle and a cool sled. Next is 5 and she’s all about Barbie princesses and girly stuff. So she’s getting that kind of stuff and a lot of crafty things. Next is 3 and he’s really big into Diego so he’s getting a bunch of Diego playsets and a Diego comforter. He’s also getting Little People things. The baby is 1 and she’s getting LeapFrog toys, stuffies and random baby things. The oldest three are getting a remote control car and science kit to share. They also get gifts from both families.
Our kids get a lot and it’s a direct result of my husband and i getting too little in our own childhoods. Now we are financially able to really go all out for Christmas and every year it brings tears to my eyes… kinda like re-living it through my kids.
well, he has aobut 25 gifts, but anything nice came from sub for santa (they gave us a HUGE box) The rest, from us, he got a toy piano from a second hand store that I fixed up, and a potty chiar (That he actually got for his birthday, and a bunch of books and puzzles from the dollar store, and Dad made him some little wooden cars and animals. Sub for Santa gave him a v0tech laptop, and some outfits, and a stuffed turtle, and a a tool set, and some practical things (soap, diapers, towels, blankets) so most of that pile of 25 packages is not toys. I just wrapped everything seprartly so he would have lots of paper to tear up. That’s the fun part for him
Most of my gifts for him cost less then a dollar, but for the dump truck I got him yesterday (I got a woo-hoo, $25 gift card to my work as a bonus and spent it on him) Its been a rough year, with my husband out of work for almost 6 months.
oh and he’s 14 months and would be happy with a box and some bubble wrap. BUt I felt that he needed presents. We lost a bunch of stuff so he doesn’t have much left.
You seem to have done pretty reasonable. Your husband sounds like mine, a tight wad! LOL
We got our 2 year old daughter:
a toddler motorized Barbie ATV ($40 at Target)
a huge a$$ doll from Wal-mart ($5 on clearance because it just needed fresh batteries)
an elmo cellphone ($10)
Ratatouille DVD ($10)
a bouncy ball ($2)
My 3 year old son
a huge robot from Target (on clearance)
a train set with tracks ($25)
a baby mirror (he loves those, $6)
Dinosaur DVD ($10)
some matchbox cars ($4)
a total of $112 but my husband thinks we spent way too much.
They are also getting a ton of gifts from both sets of grandparents and aunts and uncles.
We got our children around 16 gifts each and than a few gifts that fot both of them..so they’ll have alotto unwrap..Some gifts were expensive and some weren’t..than we have alot of family that buys for us too..so yea I might go over the top sometimes but the past years I bought alot more..lol so I am doing alot better this year..I just feel its nice to go over the top once a year..my children know the true meaning of christmas..they know its Jesus’s bday..
So I think you did a good job with the gifts..
Merry Christmas!!
Well as long as you didn’t spend over your Christmas budget and you have room to put everything, then go for it. I bought my 5 year old 6 things and my 2 year old 5 things. We didn’t have a lot of money and don’t have a lot of room for excessive amounts of toys. I did get them things they will really enjoy though.
