How do I install the patch for Vampire: Masquerade Bloodlines?

I downloaded the torrent for vampire: the masquerade bloodline and used alcohol 120% to extract it, but it keeps crashing so I want to install the patch 1.2 and the unofficial 5.9(?) to prevent these crashes, but I don’t have a file to extract it to.. What exactly can I do to install the patch?

If the patch says it needs to extract to a file it means it just needs to be decompresed and the files sent to a folder. So just make a folder on your desktop and extract the files to there, and then go in to the folder, run the executable file and it will be patched.
If not then the other possibility is you need point it to the folder where the game is installed so it can install the patch to it. You may need to install a fresh copy of the game before doing so, because it may need the original .exe file instead of the no-cd version.
