Harry Potter?
I just wonder why so many people are so obsessed with this book, like it’s all over the news, people wait in line for days, and when a character dies they cry like they lost a family member, After this book who says there’s a rise in child depression? It’s just a fictional book based on ONE person’s opinions, So I guess that it’s a following, like a lot of people follow the bible. Anyways, It’s cool and all if you read the book for fun, but so many people are taking this way too seriously, Who thinks the whole Harry Potter thing got blown out of per portion?

It’s just gotten so damn insane over the years. She created the world’s biggest cult classic in a matter of 10 years. She also killed the actors’ in her movies careers, they’ll never be able to act again without people saying, "Oh yeah and Harry Potter is in this play, and Hermione is in that movie," even if it has nothing to do with Hogwarts. I mean, really, there’s people writing internet erotica by the millions about these characters and a merchandise market of some thousands of Harry Potter collectibles. It’s a religion, it’s a lifestyle, it’s a drug… I’m sick of it, if I want an addiction I’ll just go smoke pot…
On the other hand, there’s always reading it for fun, I have no problem with the people who read the stuff in their spare time. It has a good story line, highly anticipated finale. It’s just the idea of worshipping it that’s stupid.
I really like the books, they are very well written and appeal to emotions within people. Some people like the books other don’t, thats fine. Some people love them so much they just have to express how much they enjoy them, so they have parties and bands and other things like that.
But its very different from the Bible.
People believe in the Bible, people don’t believe in Harry Potter, it’s fiction. Quite different!
It’s a great book, a great series, deal with it. I’m sorry if i’m being a little rude, but comments like that irritate me. I am an avid reader and writer, so i just don’t understand how some people can’t get really interested in a book. This is the most highly anticipated book in the world, ever, so no, i don’t think it is being blown out of proportion.
I would hardly compare Harry Potter with the Bible. It’s popular because it’s fun reading for children and adults alike. It’s well written and I don’t think it’s any different than other literary or even media phenomena. If you don’t like the book, ignore the hype and find something you do like.
Myself, I just order it off of Amazon and call it a day. I’m not so "hardcore" as to stand in line and wait specifically for a book.
I rather have my children get into harry potter and reading than get into other crap.
My boyfriend and I were near the book store last night just talking to people, neither one of us have interest in harry potter.
this was a friday night…… there were handfuls of 17-20 year olds all waiting in line for the book……
it made me feel good…………. these are the kids who are not convicts on crack. these are the kids who we don’t have to worry about teen pregnancy’s with, graffiti, etc.
its an obsession everyone can be happy with.
what do YOU have against it???
you obviously don’t read the book. you don’t see us making fun of the bible.
Oh God bless you
I think I’m the only person on the face of the planet who hasn’t ever read a Harry Potter book. lol
Its just a book i don’t see what the big deal is.
I think that I have never, ever, seen so much chicken scratch. The new book is boring and uneventful. There is almost no character development and the storyline draws HEAVILY from the previous novels. The majority of the "plot twists" and "surprises" are trivial and the character’s motivations seem genuinely uninspired.
Not a very good book, wait for the movie
