Harry Potter?
I just realized that I own a copy of the original first Harry Potter book (entitled Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone). After only 500 copies were released in London, the title was changed to Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. So basically, therer are only 500 copies in existance and I possess one of them.I read in a magazine that I copy was just auctioned off for 18,000$!!!! So my question is, how much could I likely get and do u know any good auction sites or info pages on this novel. Thanx!

All copies released in the US were called ‘Harry Potter and the Sorceror’s Stone’. All copies released in the UK were called ‘Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone’.
You have a UK edition.
eBay is just as good as any.
i am not sure how much it is worth but i know you can get it for alot more than what it is worth if you actually want to sell it.
the apple iPhones sell for about $400-$500 in stores but they were sold on eBay for $800-$900 or more.
As I understand it, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone was the title used in the UK, but they felt "Sorcerer’s Stone" would sell better in the U.S. I don’t believe they changed the title in the UK. If you have a first edition signed by J.K. Rowling, it may be worth something. Try looking for similar items on e-bay – not what the asking price is, but what they’re actually selling for.
I believe you’re mistaken. Yes, the book was first published with the Philosopher’s Stone title. However, the book that was just sold for the money you mention was a first-edition. There is a difference between books that were in the first print run and ones that were printed later after the first ones sold. Those are never worth as much. Enjoy your copy for what it is and the differences between it and the Sorcerer’s Stone (such as Dumbledore in the first chapter explaining his love of lemon drops) and unless you can verify that it was a first edition, don’t try and sell it.
i would guess that it is about the price that you said another copy was sold for. if you wait it can gain more value. so if you sell it in about 5- 10 years then more money!
if its in perfect condition, maybe $20,000 to $25,000. if its in ok condition, maybe $15,000 to $20,000. if its in bad condition, maybe $5,000 to $15,000. either way you can still get a lot of money for that book.
Dude that’s not valuable, everyone in Australia has the Philosopher’s Stone. There are copies of that one every where.
It’s only valuable if it’s a first edition.
wow…that’s pretty exciting but i suggest u wait for a couple of more years and sell it only when u need the money
Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone is what the British verision is called. Like, all the British copies are called that. I think someone misinformed you.
Why don’t you hang onto it for like 20 more years. It’ll be worth twice as much then…..
I just answered the dublicate of this question of yours…not doing it again. Still, 2 points.
