Especially Zachary Quinto as Spock - he did a great job. And Chris Pine really does have some of the essence of Shanter :D So I am swaying towards the new movie... Plus it was t.v. in my childhood, I grew up with them on t,v. It is not comparable in that way. But the comparisons will always be made. The new cast are in a class of their own. They are still unproven though in my opinion. If they turn it into a series of movies or if it becomes episodes for tv then they will get a shot to prove it, but either way they are already a quite remarkable cast and distinctive of the originals. Imagine him doing more....he could give the original Kirk a run for his money for sure. And I like the new Kirk being written as the underdog with the ladies, the opposite of the original Kirk.
