Do you let your toddler BOY play dress up?

I’m redoing my sons room with architectural detail and thought of a cute idea that I’ve probably seen somewhere else, putting door knobs on the wall and hanging costumes from it. Just like cheap costumes that I can get around Halloween time like a firefighter costume, batman, cowboy, police, etc. My sister said that girls dress up in costumes and since I’m female (on husbands account), I might be accidentally swinging him the wrong way… (gay). He’s just a 2 year old and I see kids on tv running around in cowboy outfits? I think it’s cute! Does your child do this?

there’s nothing wrong with boys dressing up, as long as you aren’t putting them in dresses and make up! Go ahead and let them be superman, a pirate, a cowboy, a police officer, fireman, etc…..it makes the imagination and personality grow.
You’re putting him in boy outfits, how does this make him gay?
My boyfriend’s son loves to try on hate and scarves and such, that will not make him gay.
My 5 year old has been dressed up since he was 2. Yesterday he went to the doctors office as a firefighter, the day before that as an AT&T employee. It’s pretty much the norm for us. I encourage him to use his imagination.
I don’t see an issue with it at all.
I don’t have a boy, but when I do I’ll let him dress up if he wants to just the same as I’ll let my little girl dress up if she wants to. Playing "dress up" is great for developing imagination and the notion that you’ll swing him "the wrong way is (I’m sorry to say it) completely ridiculous!
People don’t "turn gay" just because their mothers let them dress as cowboys!
I think you’re idea is great and your son will love it.
There is nothing wrong with a child playing dress up or engaging in dramatic play at that age. A boy dressing up in girl clothing will NOT turn him into a homosexual. It’s actually good for boys and girls to engage in dramatic play because it improves social and coginitive skills. That being said, with my own children, my sons won’t be allowed to play dress up or imitate women, and my daughters won’t be allowed to imitate or dress like men.
Of course I’d let my boy (if I had any) play dress up. At my daughter’s preschool they have a dress up room. The kids have all sorts of costumes in there- firefighter, police, doctor, gas station attendant, etc. All the kids love it, both boys and girls.
You can’t "turn" someone gay. It’s just the way someone is born. How they dress up or don’t dress up has no basis for their sexual orientation.
You can’t make your kid gay. My brother loved to put on makeup and play dress up.. He currently has about 3 girlfriends and is about as hardcore a guy as you can get.
What a sexist remark! I will allow my son to play dress up whenever he wants. There is nothing wrong with dressing up as a child, it’s fun! To say that little boys can’t play dress up would be the same as saying a little girl can’t play with toy cars.
My son is now 12,he used to love dressing up when he was a toddler so did my 2 girls,I bought all kinds of dress up clothes for him,was never sure if we were having a monkey to lunch or a policeman.It certainly did no harm and in fact I personally think it did a lot of good,he has grown up as a wee boy full of fun with a great imagination,and full of self confidence definately no gay tendencies.
Let your child have fun,he will only be a kid for a wee while,get him dress up outfits and a few books to go along with them and let his imagination go wild,enjoy him as he will be a teenager before you know it.
My kids love to play dress up and they are both boys. In our old apartment they had a closet in their playroom that was full of dress up costumes. There were obviously no princess dresses or things like that, but I really don’t think dress up in gender specific. Btw, my older son used to dress up in the princess and fairy dresses and the gym’s babysitting area because that’s all they had. This was when he was around 4. Every time I got done excersizing and would come to get him, he’d be wearing a dress. It was pretty funny. I didn’t make a big deal out of it and I don’t think it ‘turns’ someone gay.
I let my toddler play dress-up. Hell, I even let him walk around in my heels and he’s just fine, but then again my son still has some time before he hits puberty. I know that if my son grows up gay, that’s his choice. You should tell your husband that if your son is gay, then he’s gay. There’s nothing you can do to prevent it and expect him to also be stable( a lot of people who repress their homosexuality because of disapproval via religion, or unacceptability from family are high risk of suicide)
There are more important thing to focus on in life than someone’s sexual preference. Besides, he’s 2. He still has a long time to before he decides which way he want’s to go. Just love him and support him.
Our 5 year old boy loves to dress up – as long as its a "boy costume"! Lot’s of costumes for boys and furthermore – playing dress up wont turn someone gay for goodness sake.
