people keep telling me that they are remaking the spiderman and x-men movies with new characters. Is this true?. Also I heard that spiderman is now owned by sony and not marvel. Is that true?

Yes both series have been green lighted for a reboot.
The X-men are planning on doing X-men: First class. There hasn’t been much info released, but it’s looking like it will ignore the canon of the first 3 movies and show the original 5 X-men when they began attending Xaviers institute.
Spider-Man 4 was shut down and the reboot was approved. Tobey Mcguire is not going to be spidey. They’re going to have him attending high school and give it a less friendly atmosphere. Marvel still owns the rights to Spider-Man but they’ve sold the movie license (for an extended amount of time). They’ve done the same with X-men. That’s why the movies have been so horrible, Marvel had no control over the movies.
Iron Man and Hulk were both produced by Marvel studios and that’s why they’re the better comic book movies.
Spiderman still belongs to marvel. He is the flagship character. I have not heard anything to a reboot of X men. Everything I read on Scyfy.com seems to relate to nothing being done on the mutant front. All I hear is about Iron Man2, Thor and Captain America being on filming schedules to set up The Avengers Movie.
As to Spiderman, there has been some talk to re vamping the franchise in order to make it a little grittier than Rami’s creations. However, since number four is still being created on par and both peter parker and Mary Jane’s actors have signed on for the deal, I think it will follow the original trend and the next one might be a revamp.
